I had a call, randomly, from MORI shortly after getting home, and they wanted to talk to me about TV viewing habits. I answered some questions for these people a couple of years ago and it was just so nice to get a cold call from someone who a) didn't have an Indian accent and b) wasn't trying to sell me Sky after being repeatedly told I'd sooner dance naked across hot coals whilst giving oral sex to a female orangutan with dubious personal hygiene than voluntarily give my precious, precious money to Rupert Murdoch, but that's a rant for another day...

Anyhow, I said 'yes, fire away' expecting to be asked a few questions along the lines of 'Did you watch Doctor Who?' (yep), 'How many trailers did you see for Doctor Who?' (lots), 'Do you want David Tennant's babies?' (okay), but what they actually asked was if I'd be interested in doing some stuff with Nielsen, meaning would I like them to come in and fit a little bleeping box thinger to my TV that they use to help compile the ratings. And it sounds like a laugh and they have incentive voucher doodads and a monthly prize draw so, heck, I could use a wee windfall so why not? So that could be interesting and I'll tell you all how it goes. They're getting someone to call me about it next week. I remember seeing a little report, years and years ago, I think it may have been on Newsround Extra or Blue Peter or some such worthy programme, about a family that had had one of these little bleepy Nielsen boxes fitted and it looked quite fun. I only hope they won't consider me ineligible because I don't have digital yet.

Had an appraisal at work today. It's all going very well, so now I need to sum up the courage from somewhere to go and ask for a salary review.

You know, of course, that being a nerd with nerd friends....a nielson box would result in everyone you know insisting that you watch their favorite genre shows to help ensure they don't get canceled ;}

As long as you don't try and make me watch the OC, we'll get on just fine. When are your England dates? We're moving on the weekend of the 16th, 17th September, most likely, which I have a feeling conflicts, but offer of an airbed still stands if you're here before/after.

We'll be there the 11th through the 20th -- so it conflicts, but not completely.

Congrats on finding a new place! Whereabouts did you end up?

Ah, no, that's the planned date, we've not got anywhere yet, which is a little frustrating as the clock is definitely ticking. We're looking at Kilburn or Willesden, which are both kind of north-west of centre.

Best of luck with the hunt, then -- I hope it's a bit easier in London than it is in Brooklyn! Especially in this heat O_O
