I got tagged!
Jun. 8th, 2005 09:43 amSo I got tagged for pretty much all those memes by various people, so it's probably time to do them;
Films (from Nick)
1) Total number of films I own on DVD/video:
Oh, gosh, a whole bunch. I can't really be arsed to count. Maybe 25?
2) The last film I bought:
I haven't bought anything like that in over a year now when I started budgeting properly, so I really can't remember, and suspect it may have been Pirates of the Caribbean. So let's go with the last film I received which was Prisoner of Azkaban. My brother and father have a whole bunch more - I think the last film that came into the house was Kill Bill 2, which my dad bought because he thought I owned Kill Bill 1 (I don't) and wanted to watch them back to back, and now he's just taking his time over buying the first volume. My brother owns Spirited Away, which makes me mad.
3) The last film I watched:
At the cinema; Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy with the little brother. At home, we watched 28 Days Later the other week, which is a weird and disturbing horror/sci-fi flick written by Alex Garland (who also wrote The Beach, and you can really tell they're by the same guy). It is good because it has sexy half-naked Irishmen and Christopher Ecclestone trying to do a southern accent. Christopher Ecclestone cannot do a southern accent. He should not try again.
4) Five films that I watch a lot or that mean a lot to me (in no particular order):
Ah, erm, Amelie, obviously bceause it's sad and lovely and beautiful, then Flight of the Navigator because it's totally unappreciated as the classic it is and also because I had a boyish crush on the lead when I was little, then Goodfellas because I think it's the best gangster movie of all time and is completely underrated when compared to The Godfather which isn't one of my choices - also, I love Italian-American cooking and there's a lot of it in Goodfellas. Then my fourth choice is The American President on account of how it's Lowell's favourite and we watched it together on a summer's evening with nice food and nice drinks and Brighton air coming through the window and I really enjoyed it and want to remember the moment, so, yeah ... and lastly I'm going to drop Finding Neverland into the mix even though I only saw it once, but because it made me cry.
5) Tag 5 people and have them put this in their journal:
Wah, I don't know who's done it and who hasn't, now. Babe, have you done this one? Then maybe
jlh,
dancingrain,
chinawolf and another random person who can choose who they are themselves but bear in mind I've not been paying attention and so if you've already done this, then ignore me.
Music (from Lowell and some others too)
List your 6 current favorite songs and then pick 6 people who have to do the same;
1. Kaiser Chiefs - Oh My God. I love the Kaiser Chiefs; they are silly and they have a sense of humour and they make good music without being pretentious about it, unlike the Bravery who I also like, but who I get the feeling would run you through with a mic stand if you dared ever question anything they do.
2. KT Tunstall - Black Horse and the Cherry Tree. KT is under-appreciated at this time as an up-and-coming female vocalist, also she is Chinese-Scottish and is very very pretty and this is a good song.
3. Derek and the Dominoes - Layla. I heard this at my friend's going away party on Saturday - he's going away to live in Philadelphia and design and build car parts for a race team, so if you see him give him a wave, he's tiny and ickle like me - anyway, they played this and it's been on a loop in my head ever since.
4. New Order - Krafty. I don't just like this because the video has a naked boy in it. There are other reasons. Shut up.
5. Jackson Browne - The Load Out. Picked this because Lowell gave me the album for Christmas 2003 and I like it and listen to it a lot still, and although Running On Empty was my favourite for the longest time, I like this one better now for some reason. Also it reminds me of the boy. Yay boy!
6. Kirsty Macoll - Us Amazonians. It's my favourite Kirsty song today, tomorrow it might be A New England or even Miss Otis Regrets. You just never know.
Six people. Argh. I choose
dinosaurcostume because he tagged me with the film meme, um, um,
ias,
nmg,
anw,
pinguthegreek and
malachan because he'll probably do it with classical tracks and I'm curious to know how he'd approach it.
Someone tagged me with the book meme, but it was some time ago and I don't remember who did, so tag me again in the comments and let me know what the questions were and I'll do it later.
