Ah, you can always rely on the BBC messageboards. Today the illiterate masses debate the news that multibillionaire Warren Buffett is to give away the GDP of several small countries to Bill Gates' foundation, the one that does all the good works with education and stuff like that. Which is all very laudable and fantastic and if I had $44 billion I'd do exactly the same as I could live like a king on a tenth of that.

Enter burly Drew, from Harrogate, who - admitting he has tears in his eyes as he types* - proclaims:

You know, it's amazing how people forget Bill Gates alone has provided an income to hundreds of thousands of people. I work in I.T. His products literally feed my family.

Do you suppose the shards of CD-ROM stick in his gums? Maybe he flosses...

*ZOMG the humanity of it all!

Since both you and I work in IT, it means, then, that Bill Gates feeds us both out of the goodness of his heart! I feel so humble.

You know, it's coming up on lunchtime - Bill and Warren could buy me one helluva sandwich for 44 billion.

And they could get me some better coffee than this.

Did you ever get linked to that BBC skit where people were buying iPods by the slice in a delicatessen?

Ah, the abuse of 'literally.' People think it's like, for emphasis, but really it's just wrong. Boo.

O, someone made a comment about you working in IT and Microsoft feeding you, so I thought you worked for MSFT.
