My router just died. First I got thrown off the Internet and couldn't reconnect. Then I restarted the computer and the automatic connection didn't come on. The little flashing blue light on my router went out. I did a system restore. Nothing happened. I restarted about twenty times. Nothing happened. I checked the Network Connections. There is no network to connect to. There is no router. No Internet. No nothing on my computer

Therefore I am online on Cyg's computer. His is working fine. This is how I know it is a problem with my machine and not with our network, otherwise I wouldn't be making the post.

So want to switch to a Mac now kthx. But they are le expensive, so am at least waiting til after Macworld to see if the buzz about an entry level notebook is true. Because my pockets. Not lined with gold.

This would never have happened if I'd forked out for a Powerbook when my old Dell died.

There is no love for computers. NO LOVE!

This happened to me yesterday "what do you mean it doesn't exist, it's two feet away with all it's lights on"

Turn the #router# off. Then on again. It comes back. Well, it did for me.

This happened to us as well - we are now on our second router. It always is this - we never have a problem with the laptop, which runs on the wireless connection, and the speed isn't noticeably slower.

Did you actually reboot the router as well? Sometimes our PC doesn't recognise that it is there, when the laptop is working fine, and a reboot often does the trick.

Macs are pricey, but I wouldn't go back to a PC if you paid me. I love my iBook.

If you decide to switch, and you should, here's an insider tip: they totally don't check up on you if you use the educational discount. I got mine after I graduated and used the educational discount anyway. I got the biggest hard drive I could and still came in under $1000.
