It occurred to me that having had the Kirsty theme running through my journal for about 18 months now, that to not have a Kirsty icon was actually pretty damn sinful, and at about the same time it occurred to me that I really have no idea why I am using an icon of one of British Airways' old 'ethnic' tailfins as my default, so away with it and here is Kirsty with a cigar instead.

Icons are love, yes indeed.

Packing news. Have bundled pretty much my entire wardrobe, less underwear and socks and stuff that I need for work this week, into two bulging suitcases. I've also boxed up all my magazines - National Geographics going back to 1998 and various homosexualist rags that I've picked up over the years. I may ditch them eventually, but I'm keeping the Geographics. I have also shredded a whole bunch of papers that I no longer need and thrown out even more random stuff. It is quite incredible how much stuff was actually in my room - if there had ever been a fire I would have burned to a crisp. It is quite refreshing, being rid of the detritus of twenty-three years - I'm realising there's no room to be sentimental over things like I was before - I freely admit I'm a bit of a hoarder, but by Friday I will be a new, slimmed down me. And I don't feel quite so downhearted as I was this morning; I may have itty bitty living space but with that comes phenomenal cosmic power, as is my understanding.

That's the one good thing about moving, really - it typically forces you to get rid of crap that you really don't need. Of course I say that now that I've managed to put off moving for another year...

Yeah, right with you. The thing is there are things that I know I don't need but am reluctant to be parted from - like pictures I drew and stories I wrote as a kid, many of which I still have. So, it's not been the easiest thing in the world. Some of it is being boxed up and put in the attic at my parents.

Everything's coming up Milhouse!

Yeah, I know what you mean about getting rid of stuff-it was insane, the amount of crap I pulled out of my room. Is now all echo-y and empty. Woe.

Also, <3 for Aladdin quote.

I cannot come back with a Simpsons quote that can ever really top that one, so will just say 'yay for everything being tidy at long bloody last.'

Good luck in your new house! Sounds like a nice place (I think you said Harrow in a prev post). I fully sympathise with your de-cluttering, did a lot of it with my parents when they moved house this year (and I had had 33 years of stuff waiting to be sorted out in the old place, but it was fun and oddly liberating).

And by the way, what does GIP mean? I'm driving myself mad -- Graphic Icon Picture, Great Ikon Produkt, Good In Pants...

LJ legend has it it means Gratuitous Icon Post, although Great In Pants seems like a perfectly acceptable alternative.
