So, I'm technically behind the Iron Curtain ... well, East Berlin at any rate. You can tell because the utilities infrastructure suddenly goes 'burial=NOES' and all the pipes are above ground, which is a little weird alongside all the cut glass architecture that this place has sprouted since 1990 - I guess they'll get around to burying them at some point. I saw a few feet of Wall near the Reichstag as we drove in, but it's pretty much unrecognisable. I kind of wish I'd come sooner before Eastern Europe got to be all Pizza Huts and BMWs. Still a few DDR flags flying in the suburbs, interestingly. And isn't Tegel just the cutest little airport that couldn't?

Tonight we're going to the Funkturm for dinner. I do hope it's a revolving restaurant. I once had a Coke at the top of the CN Tower - the little cocktail stirrers are in the shape of the building - and since we only stayed in the cafe for twenty minutes or so we only got a few feet round. I'm sure Berlin looks much more interesting than Toronto from above.

Picked up a cut-price chunky airport paperback copy of the God Delusion to read on the plane. It really is awfully good. And such large print.

Technically I'm here for an HP conference, but I can't see that being particularly interesting, so I'm in the press room instead using the interwebs.

I haven't yet visited the revolving restaurant in the Stockholm tv tower (Kaknästornet). I feel this is a serious mistake that should be amended.

Oooo a revolving restaurant would be cool!

I should be at work, but I went to get lunch and came home to read my LJ. How sad is that? No one is there today, so I'm just like, meh. I probably should go back now...

Have fun in Berlin! I heard it's a nice restaurant, but haven't been yet.

Um, no Pizza Huts in Ljubljana... yet :P but I'm sure you can find BMWs... well, not in my parking lot :/

HP conference made me think of another 'HP' entirely :P

As an ex-Torontonian it's my opinion that a dung beetle looks much more interesting than Toronto from above. I loved living in Toronto but the bit you can see from the CN Tower are not exactly eye candy. BTW did you walk over the glass floor in the CN Tower? Being chickenshit, I never did.
