shinytoasterWell, the car insurance company picked a hell of a week to debit my account twice. Nitwits. The upshot is that short of a miracle tomorrow, I don't have enough to make up the deposit on the flat, which needs to be paid in cash on Thursday. So I've trotted off to the Bank of Mum and Dad with my begging bowl and things will be okay. It's certainly a shock to log onto your account and find out that what you thought was slightly over £1,000 is in fact a £62 overdraft. Gnargh.
On the plus side, the car radiator is fixed, there is spaghetti bolognese for dinner, I'm moving house on Saturday and I've finally purged Coldplay from my head, where they've been being melancholy all day, with KT Tunstall's upbeat one-woman-band Scottish folky-rock stylings. All reasons to be cheerful.
Work moves slowly on. Tomorrow I head into London to conduct an interview, so I have my little tape recorder all safely stashed, and also, as I have been going to work in jeans and a t-shirt for six weeks, it is a chance to look smart, which I do sometimes relish. The bright light at the end of my current tunnel is a fat paycheck arriving sometime towards the end of next week. And it's nearly Bank Holiday (you don't appreciate those enough when unemployed), and there're 39 days and counting to something really special.
